The Other Side of Your Podcast CTA
Caitlin, an avid Podcast consumer, provides perspective to help us understand why she was compelled to answer the podcast call to action (CTA).

The Passionate Podcast Consumer
Caitlin, a busy entrepreneur, consumes mainly audio-based content to balance her desire for learning and creating order with her demanding schedule.
She admits that she doesn’t listen at 1.25x, or 1.50x speed on her podcast player. Instead, she persists that she is a truest and listens as the creator intended - au (audio) natural.
I was surprised to learn that this Northern Californian resident blurted out that she enjoys political podcasts by NPR, Pod Save America, and 538. She also enjoys listening to Marc Maron, and Smart Gets Paid.
Most recently Caitlin not only listens to the No BS Agency Podcast. She’s also been a guest being ready to embrace the No BS Way.
Niche Down: Spending Money to Make Money
Caitlin has been in business for about two decades. Many of that time, she shares, was spent “floundering and fucking around.”
She mentioned her twenties were a decade of learning. Now that she’s thriving a few decades later, she’s found herself with systems for processes and better understands what works. Yet, as an Agency she finds herself fitting into an interesting niche of small agencies, strong women, and a little desperation for a kick in the ass while being told what to do and how to get there.
What do we know?
Strong, ambitious woman (mostly)
1-2 person agency (service based business)
Inconsistent results
Steady retainers are starting to dry up (Caitlin shared) and we’re in month 7 of trickling income
Enter Pia.
Interest Piqued: Take My Money!
This podcast, to Caitlin, gives listeners just enough for you to want more. Host has experience to understand pain points that the listener is having (are you still anti-niche, dear podcast creator?), and has secondary credibility (see: Forbes magazine) online.
You’ve listened to a handful (enough to consider a binge) of episodes and you’ve probably purchased the podcast creator’s book as well. Badass Your Brand by Pia Silva.

But, wait! There’s more!
You’re really vibing with this podcast (and book). You feel good. You’re gaining momentum. You’re learning about how Pia encourages disrupting, challenging the status quo, and giving time back for you.
Then it happens.
You’re scrolling Instagram and see Pia Silva drinking anti-BS out of her mug with a picture of one’s middle finger on it.
The ad: Coaching services for 1-2 person agency that wants to reinvent herself, fatten her wallet, as well as create clarity and balance in business and personal life.

A Moment For Pause: A Slight Tangent
It’s been some time since I’ve been typing out thoughts, advice, and knowledge blessings for podcast creators and enthusiasts; yet, this summer has kicked my ass.
I’ve been affected by down-sizing in the Spring after a solid career in Banking (signing off in project delivery). I seriously considered going all out on podcast work as a Fractional Creative Director for Podcasters; however, my almost adult children need stability, benefits are nice, and scaling in a few months (from zero to near six-figures) is a bit daunting (even for this high functioning creative). I found an opportunity with another Bank without being stuck at a desk job. The catch? I’ve never pursued a role as Account Manager; yet, I really miss the social side of client relationship building. Sign me up! The other catch? New home. Move is required: My partner is from the Lake Town we’re now living in.
We finally feel like we’re settling in and figuring out a rhythm-ish almost four months later.
Lastly, I decided to check off one big bucket list item. Learn to ride a motorcycle.
Few months in and I’m still hanging on to what “warm” weather we have. Days after Canadian Thanksgiving I woke up to six degrees celsius (or 43 degrees fahrenheit). I’ll keep riding “until my man parts freeze” is my new slogan.
I’ve learned a new skill, become more aware on the road, and found that commuting to clients and partner meetings has been an adventure (and not a chore).
you didn't get lost. yay!

Spoiler: she did and then some. One year later and she considers herself graduated and enjoying her success.

Thank you for your patience during my small pause in writing this summer. Thank you,
, for suggesting a future idea: “explain what all of these podcast terms mean! I have no idea what half of these terms stand for! help!”Great idea, Laura-Ray. :)
With a niche that clear, it IS worth spending some money on reaching your audience. I'd normally advise against it, because it's not a golden pill, but I'd bet on it being worth it with Pia!
