I don't know how useful this would be, besides being highly targeted to an audience that appreciates exclusivity 🤔 I suspect the benefit of these sorts of things are over hyped, unless you cater to something like stock market afficionados 😆
Marketing has its way of making things excitng indeed!
If you break it down a private podcast simply a group of audio files distributed to a selective audience.
When used right people do find the content useful. If you ever get yourself into podcast creation a private audio archive may provide extra special knowledge that you wish to share only with a VIP audience.
I generally prefer audio-first for everything. I both consume as much education/online course content as a private podcast as I possibly can, and I offer everything I make as a private podcast for my audience. It allows for easy updates to the content and I can switch out the post-roll when I'm promoting something. I'm currently creating a lead magnet as a private podcast- easy to acess, they binge right away, not worries about logging in or losing the content, and I can upsell/cross sell easily with mid-roll content and links in the show notes.
In my part of the online space, this is skyrocketing in popularity, especially with the use of Hello Audio (an application not mentioned here that allows for granular control over how private podcasts are structured and offered in much the same way that a more traditional online course platform / LMS does).
I also subscribe to a number of behind-the-scene or ask me anything style podcasts, often from people I've learned from in the past who are using it as an alternative to, say, a private Facebook group to keep in touch with clients and students. I love the immediacy of private podcasts for things I'll use over and over (guided meditations, journalling prompts, etc.) instead of having to download them to my phone and fuss over where they are.
In short, there are TONS of use cases for private podcasts and no one I know is a finance bro. (I'm allergic 😂).

Agreed, and especially with an audience that particularly likes audio over writing (I'm one of those people!)

Hello Audio? I'm new to this one. So many apps out there - thank you.
Very cool insight on how you leverage private pods Asha
